OMG my heart still beats for our lovebirds. I LIVE for spying, on-the-edge of your seat type heists, mysterious and strong female characters AND magic! So we have this power struggle with the brother trying to sabotage the son at every turn. Which then turns him bad because he would do anything to become the emperor (I wont give too many spoilers). He is not bad bad, but he wants the throne. On the flip side of the coin is the emperor's brother (the bad guy). BUT the people in the empire like the son. The said illegitimate son cannot inherit his father's throne because, well, he is not legitimate. Anyway, there is this great important empire where the emperor doesnt have an heir.
The story is set in a world called Thaea where there are all these countries or nations (whatever you want to call them). I fell in love with the characters, the world and now I'm sitting here wondering when the next book will be available! My emotions were all over the place by the time I finished the epilogue! OMG! So I can tell you I was very pleasantly surprised by the content. The plain black cover said nothing about the story, and the blurb revealed very little. Going into this book was a BIG RISK FOR ME. So… what could possibly be the link between the emperor’s natural son and a woman of much renown whose identity is shrouded in mystery? Where a mysterious woman continues to revive the ongoing speculations about the 'Lost Princess'. Whom the people revere and consider their true 'Prince'. On the other hand, however, is the Emperor's natural son. Thaea- a world where the intrigue is as thick as the magic that saturates the soil. Take the Lyvenian Empire, where the Emperor was unable to sire a legitimate heir to secure his throne. And so, on the one hand, the Emperor's brother considers the Imperial throne all but his. For when the villains create chaos, heroes always rise to restore order: and that is the truth of the great maze we call life. That is when heroes and villains are made. Therefore a cycle of chaos and order exists.
Greed paves the way for chaos, but human greed transcends time. When a series of coincidences line up to create chaos, and disaster appears imminent, the people of Thaea know those events are not the making of the Great Maze of Life.
